Remains of the town moat in Nysa

Nysa

The remains of the town moat in Nysa are relics of the fortification system erected in the town in the mid-14th century. Only two gate towers (the Wrocław and Ziębice ones), two castle towers, and few fragments of the defensive walls have survived from it to modern times. The moat was fed by the waters of the Nysa Kłodzka and Biała Głuchołaska rivers, which in the past flowed almost parallel in this place. Communication with the town took place via bridges, probably drawbridges. Currently, a walking path runs through the dry moat between the contemporary Emilii Gierczak and Bielawska streets. Practical information: Visiting the church before or after mass (every morning). Admission to the church is free of charge. Sightseeing time: 1 hour. Parking spaces on Kościelna Street.
