The Kłodzko Tower in Paczków – formerly called the Upper Tower – was erected in the 15th century on a circular plan. It was part of the medieval town fortifications. Together with the two other towers – the Wrocław and Ząbkowice towers – as well as the Nysa Gate, it is a showcase of the town. In the Middle Ages, the tower was a place where criminals sentenced to death were sent, hence it is also sometimes called the "hunger tower". At the end of the 16th century, the facility was built up to its current height – 22 meters. During the Renaissance period, it received a swallowtail attic. A pedestrian passage was pierced through at the beginning of the 20th century during renovation works on the facility.
