The Oder Gate (Brama Odrzańska) is the only preserved fragment of the defensive system of the town of Brzeg dating back to the 13th century. The gate was erected by order of Duke Joachim Frederick on the square by the bridge over the Oder river at the end of the 15th century. The ducal architect Bernard Niuron was responsible for its design. At the end of the 19th century, along with the construction of a new iron bridge on the river, the gate was moved from its original location to the Nadodrzański Park, incorporating it into the bastion embankment. On the facade of the gate, you can see a wide passage crowned with an arch, above which there is the coat of arms of Brzeg, as well as sculptures depicting the heads of guards in the spandrels and a gilded Latin inscription VERBUM DOMINI MANET IN AETHERNUM ("The word of the Lord endures forever").
