The geological site in Żyrowa is a small exposure of Lower Carboniferous greywackes on a hill near the "Residents' House" (Dom Mieszkańców), at 14 Wojska Polskiego Street. Their formation dates back 359 million years ago. These are mainly dark grey mudstones and sandstones, composed of many different minerals, among which feldspars, mica, and quartz can be seen, as well as plant fossils, primarily carbonized remains of horsetail and fern stems. Similar outcrops can also be encountered in the vicinity of Głubczyce (especially in deeper river valleys) and in Toszek (the castle hill). The site is located on the nature and educational trail leading from Żyrowa to Mount St. Anne through the Żyrowa forest reserve "Lesisko", with a length of 6 kilometers. Two hours should be allocated for walking it. Practical information: The facility is generally accessible. Free parking spaces on Zamkowa Street.
