The Museum of Blacksmithing in Prószków, located in the vicinity of the Prószków castle, is one of the oldest active forges in Poland.
During the visit, you can see the blacksmith's workshop, learn the secrets of his work up close, and listen to stories about the history of Prószków.
One of the attractions of the forge are replicas of "one-third of a ducat", which you can mint with your own hands, assisted by a blacksmith. A coin of such a denomination was created at the end of the 18th century, upon the request of the King of Prussia, Frederick II Hohenzollern. The monarch wanted to buy the castle in Prószków, and the Dietrichstein family demanded a fee of 333,333 and 1/3 ducats for it, which forced the king to mint a commemorative ducat.
Museum lessons, as well as blacksmithing, folk handicraft, and pottery workshops are also organized in the museum.
