The post-evangelical church in Malnia from the beginning of the 19th century originally stood in Kostów near Kluczbork. In the 1970s, the building was moved to Malnia. Until the reconstruction of the small church and the official completion of the construction of catechism rooms in Malnia, services were held in a chapel from the early 20th century. The church, which after the relocation received the dedication of St. Francis of Assisi, is called "upper" because it is the above-ground part of the church complex, situated on the ceiling of the lower building.
The wooden church of log construction was funded by Baron Antoni von Strachwitz.
A distinguishing element of its body is a quadrilateral tower rising above the eastern part of the nave, covered with a high Neo-Baroque helmet with a lantern, topped with a sphere and a flag.
The interior of the temple is paneled. In the cabinet-type main altar, one can see the painting "Ecstasy of St. Francis," with figures of the Mother of God with Child and St. Joseph with Child.
