The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Niemodlin was established in the 13th century, along with the granting of city rights to the village by Duke Casimir I of Opole. The nave and church tower were built in the 15th century, and the Baroque vault of the temple dates from the 18th century. Inside the building, which is distinguished in the city panorama by the Maltese cross on the roof slope, one can see polychromes from the Gothic and Baroque periods and a sacrament house from the end of the 16th century. In the presbytery, there is the main altar, funded by Count Frederick Praschma and Countess Joanna Praschma, with figures depicting St. Peter and Paul and a painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, painted by Molitor from Düsseldorf. The painting – being a copy of a painting by Guido Reni – depicts the Madonna, who, surrounded by angels, leads members of the count's family to heaven. In the nave in the presbytery, one can see Gothic and Baroque polychromes with the motif of angels with curtains. Practical information: The church is open for sightseeing (except during mass hours). Free admission. Sightseeing time: 1 hour. Free parking on Podwale Street.
