The Franciscan monastery is located between the Church of St. Francis and the Oppersdorff Castle, within the old town in Głogówek. The Baroque building consists of four wings that surround the main courtyard.
The construction of the monastery and the neighboring Church of St. Francis is connected with the bringing of the Franciscan order to Głogówek in the second half of the 13th century by Duke Władysław I of Opole. The monks were engaged in building the church and the monastery. During the war with the Hussites and the Thirty Years' War, the monastery was destroyed, and during the Reformation and secularization, the monks were driven out of Głogówek, and the monastery buildings were sold.
After World War II, the monks returned to the town and occupied one of the monastery wings, and in the 1960s – after the re-establishment of the monastery in Głogówek – the order regained the remaining part of the buildings. The facility can be viewed from the outside.
