The Monument to Empress Augusta Victoria in Jarnołtówek commemorates the visit of the German monarch to the flood-destroyed village. During the stay taking place in 1907, the ruler donated funds for the construction of a new church as well as a dam and dry reservoir on the Złoty Potok. The obelisk is located in the vicinity of the Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle.
Augusta Victoria was the Queen of Prussia and German Empress and the wife of Wilhelm II, the last ruler of Prussia and Germany. In addition to support for Jarnołtówek, the ruler on lands lying within the modern borders of Poland supported, among others, the Church of the Savior in Katowice-Szopienice, for which she funded an altar, and the Memorial Church of Frederick III in Polanica-Zdrój, to which she donated an altar bible with a handwritten entry. Together with her husband, the monarch also donated a considerable amount for the construction of the current Church of St. George in Sopot, then the evangelical garrison church of the Savior, as well as for the Siemków foundation – a colony in the village of Moszczanka near Prudnik.
