University Hill, also called the Little Hill (Górka), is the highest elevation of Opole. Located here are buildings of the University of Opole, converted from a former Dominican monastery, and the church on the Hill with the chapel of Saint Adalbert. Elements of the hill's landscape are both historic and contemporary sculptures, including Baroque representations of the "Four Seasons". The hill is one of the favorite walking places in the city.
University Hill rises to 165 m above sea level. In the past, quarries and limestone workings were located in this place. Over time, Dominicans began to settle on the hill. After the dissolution of the order, the monastery buildings were turned into a hospital, and then into the University. Nearby is also the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and Saint Adalbert. At the beginning of the 20th century, the University of Opole also rebuilt the chapel of Saint Adalbert, which according to legends was supposed to stand in the place where the bishop celebrated mass in the 10th century.
On the hill, one can also see a series of sculptures. Among others, there are the Baroque Marian column from Regulice near Nysa, the reconstructed "Four Seasons" from the palace park of the Frankenberg estate in Biestrzykowice, and the recreated classicist sculptures of Diana and Venus by Henryk Hartmann from the 18th century.
