The bell tower by St. James Basilica in Nysa is one of the few surviving medieval free-standing bell towers in Poland. The 16th-century object is counted among the most valuable monuments of Nysa.
From the south-west side, the 43-meter body of the building is diversified by a turret with a stone staircase, reaching the height of the bell tower terrace. Attention is also drawn to the rich sculptural decoration – the work of unknown stonemasons. On the western wall, there is an embedded stone slab with the date of the tower's construction – 1512.
On the first three floors of the facility, one can currently view an exhibition called the Treasury of St. James with valuable historic works of goldsmith art, and on the fourth floor, there are nine bells and a clock with a chime.
