The Town Hall in Prudnik is a historic building in the Baroque-Classicist style designed by Thomas, an architect from Świdnica. The edifice was erected in the second half of the 18th century on the site of an earlier, wooden town hall, destroyed by the Swedes in the 17th century. Currently, it is the seat of municipal authorities and regional institutions.
A 63-meter tower topped with a helmet and a spire, the construction of which was financed by Frederick II the Great, adjoins the three-story town hall building. This fact is informed by a text in Latin on a plaque placed on the northern side of the tower.
In front of the building stands a Baroque fountain from the 17th century. Its base is a sandstone basin containing a sculpture of atlantes carrying a shell. The object is surmounted by a double-headed eagle with a crown – a symbol of the Habsburg monarchy, under whose rule the city was.
