The "Kłodnica Siphon" in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, located near the Lenartowice and Piastów estates in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, is a unique hydrotechnical structure created in the 1930s. Its main function is the transmission of waters of the Kłodnica river under the bed of the Gliwice Canal. It is one of two such "intersections" of watercourses in Poland, next to the Flis stream under the Bydgoszcz Canal in Bydgoszcz.
The need for the construction arose with the building of the Gliwice Canal, which collided with the course of the Kłodnica river, flowing along the Kłodnica Canal, dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. German engineers decided at the time that the best solution would be to redirect the river waters into a special siphon, which was to guarantee a collision-free intersection of both watercourses.
