The Arsenal is located in a building adjacent to the 15th-century city walls created from the foundation of Duke Bolesław I of Niemodlin, the owner of Prudnik, and two towers where weapons were stored in the Middle Ages.
In a later period, these historic objects served as a city prison. In the 19th century, the larger tower was converted into a water tower supplying the municipal waterworks, and in the interwar period, the buildings of today's museum served as a youth hostel.
Currently, the Museum of the Prudnik Land is located in the edifice, created on the basis of historical souvenirs transferred to the city by collector Emil Metzner.
In the museum, one can see collections in the field of archaeology, ethnography, and history of the southern part of the Opole region.
