The Paleontological Pavilion of the University of Opole in Krasiejów is the only museum in the world constructed over an active paleontological site, where fossils of Triassic amphibians and reptiles can be viewed through a glass floor. A one-of-a-kind attraction of the place is also the reconstruction of the skeleton of the oldest proto-dinosaur discovered so far, Silesaurus opolensis, made by sculptor Marta Szubert.
The main part of the pavilion's exhibition consists of fossils of prehistoric animals, the oldest of which are 225 million years old, discovered in the area of the former clay mine in Krasiejów. Moreover, in the museum, one can see a collection of fossils from the quarry in Faustianka, Strzelce Opolskie, and Tarnów Opolski, as well as learn about the history of paleontological discoveries and the appearance of prehistoric animals.
In the vicinity of the pavilion is the JuraPark Krasiejów with life-size dinosaur models, multimedia exhibitions regarding evolution, a train ride through the "time tunnel," and a 5D cinema.
