The Jan Dzierżon Museum in Kluczbork is a place where one can see collections of archaeological, historical, and ethnographic character related to the Kluczbork Land. The museum also collects documents and photographs concerning the region, beekeeping iconography, objects of daily use related to food preparation, cleanliness maintenance, and raw material processing, as well as folk culture costumes. A unique part of the exhibition deserves the Dzierżon collection, i.e., memorabilia of priest Jan Dzierżon, living at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the creator of modern beekeeping and the patron of the institution. These include, among others, manuscripts by Jan Dzierżon, family souvenirs of the priest, and state decorations, medals, diplomas, and honorary membership decorations awarded to the priest by beekeeping associations. At the exhibition "Beekeeping old and new," one can trace the development of beekeeping techniques from ancient times. The oldest object in the collection is a beehive dated to the 1st century BC. The collections are complemented by straw, hollowed, box, and carved hives. The showcase of the museum is the pavilion located in front of the museum building with a collection of contemporary hives made by folk artists and amateur sculptors from all over Poland. Practical information: Opening hours: Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Sunday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM; admission to exhibitions at the latest 30 mins before the museum closes. Paid admission; outdoor exhibitions – free admission. Allow 1 hour for sightseeing. Free parking spaces directly in front of the museum building.
