Sophia's Church is an Evangelical-Augsburg temple from the second half of the 18th century. It constitutes an essential element of the central urban layout of Pokójdeveloped by Duke Karl Christian Erdmann. The architecture of the temple is a combination of several styles: the external facade possesses classicist features, and the interior is dominated by Baroque with Rococo furnishings. The building is one of the more valuable monuments originating from this era in Poland, while in terms of the original structural solution of the roof truss – it is the only building of this type in Europe.
The facility is distinguished by a tower ending with a clock and a dome located right by the entrance, leading to a glazed loge used by the ducal family. Images of dukes and priests hang in the sacristy, and above it is a library with ducal volumes saved after the fire of the Pokój castle in 1798. In the western annex, currently serving as the main entrance, stairs leading to the historic organ are placed.
Next to the church, busts of two figures associated with Pokój appear, i.e., the composer Carl Maria von Weber and the geographer, geologist, and cartographer Ferdinand von Richthofen.
An evangelical cemetery is also located in the vicinity of the facility.
