The Sanctuary of St. Joseph in Prudnik-Lasis a monastery complex together with a church located on the eastern edge of the Prudnik Forest, in Lipno. The complex stands in a place where in the mid-19th century existed a small church built by the Alcantarines – an order belonging to the Franciscan family.
As a result of a conflict with the Bishop of Wrocław, the monks left the city, and their place was taken by the Franciscans in 1863. They replaced the old church in the second half of the 19th century with a new temple, to which they subsequently added a monastery. In 1945, the monastery found itself on the front line and German soldiers, and then Soviet ones, stayed in it.
Inside the church, one can see, among others, a Neo-Gothic main altar with a copy of the painting of St. Joseph with the Child Jesus by Albert Küchler. Near the complex of buildings, there is a copy of the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, erected at the beginning of the 20th century from volcanic tuff imported from the Rhine, where in favorable weather field masses and the Stations of the Cross are celebrated on Sundays. A small forest with walking paths extends around the monastery, through which one can reach the cemetery with the monks' graves. On October 1, 1954, representatives of the authorities arrived at the Franciscans in Prudnik with an order to leave the monastery, under the pretext of its location in the border zone. On October 6, the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, was brought to Prudnik, for whom the order became the third place of internment until October 27, 1955.
