The Convent of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Nysais a classicist building erected in the years 1863-1865 through the efforts of the founder of the congregation, Blessed Maria Merkert, called the "Silesian Samaritan," and three other nuns: Mathilde Merkert, Franziska Werner, and Clara Wolf. The main goal of the Grey Sisters' activity was the care of the sick, homeless, lonely, and abandoned people. The corners of the restored building are decorated with figures of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Barbara.
The house contains the Chapel of the Holy Family and a memorial room for Blessed Maria Merkert.
The Association of St. Elizabeth was approved by church authorities in 1859, and Maria Merkert was elected the first Superior General. By her choice, St. Elizabeth of Hungary became the patroness of the congregation. Even during her lifetime, nearly half a thousand young women served in the congregation for the benefit of the sick and dying.
