The brick, knightly defensive castle in Otmętwas built in the 15th century on the initiative of the Strzela family of the Kotowicz coat of arms, owners of the village in the period from the 14th to the 16th century. In 1514, the building situated on the bank of the Oder was bought by Łukasz Buchta of the Odrowąż coat of arms, and after him, the estate was managed by his son, Joachim Buchta Bilicki. In this period, the edifice was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. In the first half of the 18th century, the building began to fall into ruin, and building material coming from its walls was used for the renovation of the church situated nearby. The progressing degradation of the castle influenced the decision to abandon it, which happened at the beginning of the 19th century. Only fragments of residential rooms, ruins of a tower, and a perimeter wall with a semicircular bastion in one of the corners have been preserved to modern times. The oldest fragments of the walls date from the 16th century. A park extended around the castle, the remains of which are located between the ruins of the residence and the former quarries at Księdza Duszy Street.
