The Lower Castle in Otmuchów, also called the Bishop's Castle or Baroque Palace, lies at the foot of the Upper Castle, south of the town market square. It was erected at the beginning of the 18th century funded by the Bishop of Wrocław, Franz Ludwig von Neuburg, becoming the episcopal seat after 1741, when the Upper Castle was destroyed during the First Silesian War. In 1810, both castles were seized by the Prussians, who handed them over for use to Minister of State Wilhelm von Humboldt. The baron lived in the Lower Castle with his family, as the technical condition of the other facility did not allow for its use. In the 1920s, the building was rebuilt into a school. Currently, the building is the seat of the Municipal Office in Otmuchów. A remnant of the palace's former surroundings is a stone spring intake in the shape of a lion's head.
