The dam in Jarnołtówek is an artificial flood-control reservoir on the Złoty Potok – a river which has its source in the Czech Republic and is the longest tributary of the Prudnik river. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century in order to protect the area from the rapidly swelling waters of the mountain stream. It is 15.4 m high, about 50 m long, and has a capacity of 2.5 million m3. The facility was funded by the Empress of Prussia – Augusta Victoria, after the flood that hit Jarnołtówek in 1903. The dam is closed only during high water levels. Additional information: The facility is generally accessible from the outside.
