The "Icarus" lime kiln in Ligota Dolna is located in an inactive quarry, on the slope of Kamienna Góra. The name of the lime kiln is related to the bas-relief depicting the legendary Icarus, which is located on its wall. It was created in 1939 and depicts the symbol of the German paramilitary aviation organization NSFK (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps). Among the residents, there is a belief that the titular "Icarus" is most likely a monument that commemorates the death of one of the aviators. After World War II, a pilot school operated there, which in 1957 took the name of the Glider School of the Aero Club of the Polish People's Republic. In 1961, the Civilian School for Pilots and Mechanics was liquidated. The airport was finally closed at the end of 1963. Additional information: The facility is generally accessible. Access is limited. Free parking spaces on Wiejska Street.
