The road stone in the village of Brzezina near Brzeg is an object dating from the end of the 16th century. It was erected on the occasion of paving the road from Brzeg to Oława – an important trade route running along the Oder river. The object is the oldest and largest monument of a road investment in Poland. The slab made of Strzelin granite is about 5 m high, 3.5 m wide, and 20 cm thick; its weight reaches 10 tons. The surface of the object is covered with a drawing of the Piast Silesian eagle in a ducal miter and an inscription in German with information about the hardening of the road by the Duke of Brzeg-Legnica, George II. Below the eagle, a Latin maxim is visible: "Others build for us, we – for posterity, may Christ pave the way to heaven for us all". Additional information: The facility is generally accessible. Free parking spaces along the road.
