The observation tower on Biskupia Kopa is the highest viewpoint in the Opawskie Mountains. It is one of the oldest structures of this type with a history dating back to the second half of the 19th century. It is located just on the Czech side of the border. The first observation platform on the top of Biskupia Kopa was created in the form of a stone pyramid, but it was destroyed as a result of a fire. The next wooden, five-story structure measured 13 meters. It had the shape of a truncated pyramid, held by steel ropes attached to the roots of thick trees. Another tower was built at the end of the 19th century on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. During the years of World War II, when the tower was within the borders of the Third Reich, it was used for propaganda purposes – youth from the Hitler Youth hung flags on it and played fanfares. Since the 1990s, the facility has been open to visitors again. Practical information: Free admission. Free parking below Biskupia Kopa.
