Sarnowice is a part of the town of Otmuchów, and until January 1, 2018, it was a village located in the Nysa district, in the Otmuchów municipality. It is a place of a tourist character, in particular due to its location right on the shore of Lake Otmuchów – a retention reservoir that was built in the years 1928-33. The reservoir belongs to the so-called Nysa Kłodzka Cascade, consisting of 4 water reservoirs (Topola Reservoir, Kozielno Reservoir forming Lake Paczków, Lake Otmuchów, and Lake Nysa) in the middle course of the river. Near the lake, there is a grey heron habitat unique on a national scale, and the waters of the lake are rich in numerous species of fish.
In Sarnowice, sailing clubs have their headquarters; there are also numerous campsites with tent areas and pitches for campers, as well as holiday and agritourism resorts.
The Witches' Trail along the Polish-Czech border runs through Sarnowice, as does the Green Bicycle Trail.
