Rzymkowice is a village located in the Nysa district, in the Korfantów municipality. It is situated in the area of the Niemodlin Plain, which is part of the Silesian Lowland. The village was originally called Rzędkowice – from the personal name Rządek, which meant the subjects or descendants of Rzędek. The village appears for the first time in written sources in 1534, however, already in the 13th century, a medieval stronghold surrounded by a moat and a defensive rampart existed in its vicinity. It served as a watchtower and probably a customs chamber in later centuries. Next to the stronghold, a settlement was founded and populated by the native Polish population in the 14th century. For centuries, the inhabitants of Rzymkowice engaged in agriculture, breeding cattle, pigs, and poultry (especially geese), as well as logging and crafts. Baskets were woven from wicker, and brooms were made from birch branches. From the second half of the 19th century, the traditional occupation of the women of Rzymkowice was the production of net laces. In addition to residential buildings, objects of historical value in the village include the Church of the Apostles St. Peter and Paul from the early 20th century, the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help from the mid-20th century, and a war monument.
