Stare Olesno is a village located in the Olesno district, in the Olesno municipality.
The first mention of the town comes from the second half of the 17th century, however, the village is probably much older. At the end of the 19th century, the estate in Stare Olesno was acquired by Baron Mortimer von Lieres und Wilkau, who founded the palace that still exists today.
The eclectic palace is a building made of stone and brick, erected on a rectangular plan. The asymmetrical elevation of the building is diversified by avant-corps, gables, and dormers.
After World War II, it was nationalized. The State Plant Breeding Plant was created in the former grange. Currently, the palace and the surrounding landscape park are privately owned. In Stare Olesno, the wooden parish church of St. Mary Magdalene, dating from 1680, has a historic character. It is one of the oldest temples in the Olesno district. Inside the small church, there is a painting of the Mother of God from the 17th century and 19th-century Stations of the Cross of a folk character.
