Żędowice is a village located in the Strzelce district, in the Zawadzkie municipality.
The first written mention of the village dates back to the early 14th century, and of the Żędowice forge – from 1524. In the first half of the 19th century, it was the main center of the metallurgical industry in the Strzelce district. The local steelworks operated for 150 years, until the beginning of the 20th century. There are 2 mills in the village, including the still operating Thiell Mill on Stawowa Street. Among the historic objects in the village, noteworthy is the mass grave of the Silesian insurgents from 1921, which is located in the Roman Catholic cemetery, the administration building of the Żędowice steelworks, dating from the second half of the 19th century, which is located at the corner of Wojska Polskiego and Stawowa streets, the school building on Strzelecka Street from the end of the 19th century, the buildings of the so-called manor house on Strzelecka Street from the beginning of the 19th century, and the so-called bell on Strzelecka Street originating from the same period. A significant religious event was the report of the apparition of the image of the Mother of God in Żędowice. According to witnesses, it was supposed to take place on July 25, 1904.
