Olszowa is a village located in the Strzelce district, in the Ujazd municipality. It is located by a forest complex, in the buffer zone of the Landscape Park, created to preserve areas with the most valuable natural, landscape, and cultural features characteristic of the Opole Voivodeship. On the northern side of the village, near the buildings, the A4 motorway runs.
The first mentions of the village date from the beginning of the 14th century.
The name of the town most likely derives from the "alder" (Silesian "olsza"), which grew in the surrounding swamps and wetlands. Until the end of the 18th century, the village was called Olsona, and from 1800 – Olchowa. In 1823, Count Andreas Maria Renard von Gaschin became the owner of Olszowa, who reclaimed the waterlogged lands and established vineyards on them (Andreas Tanne). The vineyard had a Swiss cottage (Schweizerhause) with cellar rooms where the wine was aged. In 1962, the 12th Air Defense Missile Squadron was stationed in the Kucerz Forest located within the village.
