Branice is a village in the Głubczyce district, in the Branice municipality, of which it is the seat. It lies on the Głubczyce Plateau, at the foot of the south-eastern part of the Opawskie Mountains. Branice was mentioned for the first time in 1278, when it belonged to the Czech Duchy of Opava, separated from the Margraviate of Moravia in 1269. In the 18th century, the village found itself within the borders of Prussia, and after the end of World War II, it was incorporated into the territory of Poland. Among the monuments of the town, special attention is deserved by the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the monastery of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate, the palace park from the second half of the 19th century, as well as the palace and the brewery building built on the ruins of a medieval castle. The asset of the village is its location on the Głubczyce Plateau, along the Opava river, where a bicycle path runs, being one of the sections of the "Opawice Bicycle Routes".
In the area of the municipality, there is also a historic church in Bliszczyce and a manor granary in Wysoka. The Mokre-Lewice forest presents natural value, where many specimens of rare plants and trees grow.
