Tułowice is a town in the Opole district, being the seat of the Tułowice urban-rural municipality. The town lies in historical Upper Silesia, on the Niemodlin Plain, which is part of the Silesian Lowland. The Ścinawa Niemodlińska river, a right tributary of the Nysa Kłodzka, flows through the town. The town was first mentioned in the mid-15th century. At that time, a parish dedicated to St. Roch already existed in the town.
Since the 19th century, ceramic clays have been extracted and faience produced in the town. Activity with this profile in the town was started by Ludwik Praschma, and continued by Erhard Schlegelmilch. At the end of the century, a modern porcelain factory was established, producing tableware decorated with floral and plastic motifs. After World War II, production was resumed, changing the profile to the production of semi-vitreous porcelain dishes. Currently, the Starachowice Special Economic Zone operates on the site of the former factory.
