Pokrzywna is a village in the Nysa district, in the Głuchołazy municipality. It lies in historical Upper Silesia, in the Prudnik land. Its landscape asset is its location in the Opawskie Mountains, on the Złoty Potok river and the Bystry Potok stream. The town, which is a popular holiday resort in the Opole Voivodeship, lies within the Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park. The beginnings of the village date back to the mid-16th century, when a forest settlement was established in its place. In the second half of the 16th century, a water mill was built there, and then also a forester's lodge. Until the 19th century, the main sources of livelihood for the inhabitants were work in the forest and cottage weaving. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries – due to the popularity of Biskupia Kopa as an attractive tourist destination – numerous inns and guesthouses were established in Pokrzywna. During this period, the village was called "Opole Switzerland". Currently, the biggest attraction of the village is the forest bathing area on the Złoty Potok. Walking and cycling tourist trails run through the town.
