Jarnołtówek is a village located in the Nysa district, in the Głuchołazy municipality. It lies in the Prudnik land, in historical Upper Silesia. Its asset is its location in the Opawskie Mountains. The Złoty Potok river flows through the village, which belongs to the Praděd Euroregion. Jarnołtówek, founded by a settler and later the first village headman – Arnold, was first mentioned in 1268, and in the following century, it was mentioned as Arnoldi villa, and later as Arnoldsdorff (Arnold's village). It was famous mainly as a place where gold was mined. In 1903, the village was struck by a flood that destroyed most of the buildings. In connection with the event, the German Empress Augusta Victoria arrived in the area and financed the reconstruction of Jarnołtówek. Before World War II, many villas were built on the slopes of the hills, and holiday homes, sanatoriums, and guesthouses were built in the Złoty Potok valley. In Jarnołtówek there is the Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, which – along with the dam on the Złoty Potok – was funded by the empress, as well as a monument commemorating her visit to the region.
