The single specimen of the European bladdernut species in Pawłowice is a 100-year-old tree located on Krótka Street. The specimen is a representative of a species originating from Asia Minor and southern Europe, which rarely occurs in Poland. The wood was once massively used for the production of small household appliances.
The bladdernut was a sacred shrub for the Slavs, Celts, and Germanic peoples.
Christians made figures of saints, small crosses, Easter palms, bouquets, and wreaths for Corpus Christi from the bladdernut. Consecrated bladdernut bouquets from the Corpus Christi mass or the Assumption of Mary were used to bless the fields in order to ensure a good harvest and protect them from natural disasters.
