The 50-meter-long avenue of common yews in Kluczbork is located on Byczyńska Street. It is a sequence of sixteen yews with circumferences from 80 to 145 cm. The height of the trees ranges from 8 to 12 meters. The avenue was established as a natural monument in the 1960s. In subsequent decades, other historic trees in Kluczbork earned this title, including a 24-meter pedunculate oak and a 200-year-old black alder reaching 30 meters in height. The common yew is an evergreen species of coniferous tree that occurs mainly in Europe and Asia. It is a slow-growing, long-lived plant that grows on various soils and in various sunlight conditions. Yew wood has been used to make weapons and furniture since ancient times.
