The "Olszak" nature reserve is located in the villages of Jarnołtówek and Pokrzywna, on the southern slope of Olszak. It was created to protect developed forest communities: acidophilous oak forest, as well as sycamore forests and maple-linden forests. Within the boundaries of the reserve, there are numerous rock outcrops (built mainly of phyllite slates), and among them, the most impressive are the Karolinka Rocks (Skałki Karolinki). A peculiarity of the area is the branched hawkweed – one of the three known sites of this species in Poland. The occurrence of two very rare nocturnal butterflies, inhabiting luminous forests rich in dead organic matter, was found in the reserve. Along the ridge of the reserve's elevation runs a trail open to pedestrian traffic, which is part of the nature and educational path running from Pokrzywna through Olszak, Żabie Oczko, and the Karolinka Rocks to Jarnołtówek.
