The Glade of Death and the Partisan Cross in Barut is a memorial site in the forest wilderness of the "Hubert" nature reserve. It is marked by a tall cross erected to honor the memory of 200 partisans of the Home Army, the National Armed Forces, and the organization Resistance Movement without War and Sabotage "Freedom and Independence" who were brutally murdered in this place by the communist Security Office in September 1946. Among them was Captain Henryk Flame, pseudonym "Bartek", who organized one of the largest units opposing the communist order.
This event gained the name of the "Silesian Katyn". Every year in September, a Holy Mass is held in the forest glade for the intention of the murdered.
