The Monument of Polish and Soviet Soldiers in Brzeg, also known as the Monument of Gratitude, was erected at the beginning of the 1970s in the place of an obelisk set up after the end of World War II commemorating the soldiers who fell in the battles for the liberation of the town. The monument consists of a concrete slab, above which a pair of obelisks with carved faces and inscriptions rises, as well as metal elements resembling trimmed pipes in shape. The contemporary monument was designed by Tadeusz Wencel. The inscriptions on the monument glorify the soldiers who defeated Nazi fascism. It also displays the names of towns where battles with the Germans were fought during World War II. Practical information: The facility can be viewed from the outside.
