The monument "To the Victims of Wars and Violence" in Strzelce Opolskie is a monument also called the "Silesian Pieta", which was unveiled in 2005, on the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. The sculpture presents a mother looking upwards, holding the body of a war victim on her lap. The man – presumably her son – has his hands tied, and the mother supports his head with her right hand. On the front wall of the plinth, there is an inscription with the name of the monument, under which an image of an eagle is located. On the remaining walls of the plinth, this message was written in English, German, and Russian. The monument, whose funder was the Strzelce entrepreneur Karol Cebula, was created on the initiative of the Union of Combatants. The author of the sculpture is Stanisław Pietrusa. Practical information: The facility is not open to visitors. Free parking on Ogrodowa Street.
