The fountain on the Castle Pond in Opole is located on the site of the 13th-century moat surrounding the ducal castle. The castle pond was created in the first half of the 20th century, when the ducal castle was dismantled. Next to the pond, an Ice House was built on the initiative of the Skating Society, in which an indoor ice rink operated. In 1937, the German Figure Skating Championships were organized in this place. After World War II, the facility housed a PTTK shelter, and currently – a restaurant. In the summer season, the surroundings of the fountains are one of the favorite resting places for Opole residents in the urban space.
