The Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners of War in Łambinowice is located in the National Remembrance Site in Łambinowice, established at the location of former prisoner of war camps. The history of the place dates back to the 1870s when a military training ground was created in the village, where Prussian, and later German, prisoner of war and internment camps were subsequently organized. During World War II, the camps were among the largest German camp complexes in Europe.
The Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners of War was erected to honor the memory of all prisoners of war who died during World War II. The monument, designed by Jan Borowczak, Jerzy Beski, Marian Nowak, and Florian Jesionowski, is formed by two massive pylons decorated with figural sculptures. Near the monument stands a cross designed by Marian Nowak, erected in the 1990s.
