The building of the Opole Regency in Opole was built in the 1930s. It was erected in the place where the Piast Castle on Ostrówek had previously been located. The historic building – with the exception of the Piast Tower – was demolished due to its poor technical condition. The modernist structure was created in the spirit of Bauhaus, according to the design of Friedrich Lehmann. In addition to the office of the regency, which was a German administrative unit, the edifice housed the apartment of the regency's president (in the eastern part) and the seat of the local administration (in the western wing). After World War II, the building became the seat of the Provincial National Council, and then the Provincial Office.
