The Cemetery of Soviet Soldiers in Kędzierzyn-Koźle was established in the 1950s. Soldiers of the Soviet Army who fell during World War II in the Opole region are buried there. At the necropolis, there are 468 mass graves with the remains of about 18,000 soldiers, including bodies transferred from the first Soviet military cemetery, which was located in the square at the intersection of Piastowska and Żeromskiego streets. Most of the graves are marked only with a number, and on some, there are medallions with photos of identified soldiers. Behind the cemetery gate, you can see an information board illustrating the size of the facility. In the central part of the necropolis, there is a monument bearing the inscription: "Glory to the Heroes of the Soviet Army fallen in defense of our freedom. Year 1959. Residents of Kędzierzyn". Practical information: The facility is generally accessible. Free parking on Wojska Polskiego Street.
