The water tower at 64 Oleska Street in Opole was built at the end of the 19th century, along with an underground water supply network made of steel pipes, a new waterworks plant, and a water treatment station. The facility is distinguished by its rich eclectic ornamentation. Noteworthy are the elaborately crafted cornices with friezes, opening frames, blind arcaded friezes, consoles, and overhangs protruding from the surface.
The tank located at the top of the tower served to ensure stable pressure in the water supply system, and also covered temporary increases in water demand. The facility was decommissioned in 2009.
