The complex of tenement houses by the Młynówka in Opole is a sequence of historic houses standing on the bank of the canal, from the Castle Bridge to Korfantego Street. Due to associations with the city of St. Mark, this area is commonly called the "Opole Venice". The historic tenement houses were built in a place where there was a port with transshipment points, warehouses, and depots for goods rafted down the Oder river. It was also a part of the city where municipal mills were located, from which the name of the old riverbed of the Oder – Młynówka – is derived.
In the terraced buildings of the "Opole Venice", the neoclassical building of the former synagogue at 1 Szpitalna Street stands out. In turn, a granary was once located in the tenement house with a balcony at 9 Szpitalna Street. The first leather factory in the city operated in the corner building on Zamkowa Street – currently, it is the seat of the State Archives.
Among the buildings, it is also worth paying attention to the western elevation of the former St. Alexis Hospital (5a Szpitalna Street), which currently houses a social care home.
