The Eastern Gate Tower in Byczyna is the so-called Polish Gate Tower – one of the elements of the medieval municipal fortifications. To this day – apart from the Eastern Tower – two other towers from the municipal fortifications have been preserved – the German and Sand ones, as well as a fragment of the moat and the Gothic 14th-century St. Peter's church towering over the market square.
The tower of the Polish Gate was built on a square plan, using overburnt clinker bricks, on a low stone plinth. The 22-meter-high facility has a pointed-arch entrance on the ground floor, six slit windows illuminating the interior, and a series of small windows on the highest floor. The whole is crowned with a tented roof covered with roof tiles. A wooden staircase leads to the top level, the balustrades of which require reconstruction.
